Nujiang offers a unique culinary experience characterized by its use of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The cuisine often features sour and spicy flavors. 

Chicken Stew with Lacquer Tree Oil:

 It is a delicacy of the Nujiang Lisu ethnic group. Lacquer tree oil is an edible oil extracted from the fruits of lacquer trees, imparting a unique flavor to this dish. To prepare it, choose a chicken and cut into pieces, then stir-fried and stewed with lacquer tree oil, chili peppers, and other spices. This dish has a rich and fragrant taste, with a special aroma and a slightly numbing sensation, and the meat is tender and smooth.

Laowo Hotpot:

 Laowo Hotpot is a delicacy of the Lisu people, originating from the village of Laowo in the region. To make it, place a variety of wild mushrooms, native chickens, cured meats, and other fresh ingredients into a clay pot, along with clear water and secret seasonings. Then slow-cooked over low heat. Laowo Hotpot is beloved by local residents and tourists alike, making it a delightful dish during the cold season.
